Dramaturg
Jiayun Zhuang teaches as an assistant professor in the Department of Dramatic Art at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Four of her plays, 25.3 KM-An Interactive Performance on A Moving Bus (2014), One Fine Day (2013), A Madman’s Diary (2011), and Stockholm Syndrome (2010), were well received in Beijing. A Madman’s Diary, which premiered at the 2011 Beijing International Theater Festival, was selected for the 2012 FESTIVAL/TOKYO Performing Arts Festival and the 2012 Chinesischer Herbst-Contemporary Chinese Art Festival (held in Berlin). Her research interests include Contemporary and Avant-Garde Asian Theater and Performance, Community-based Theatre and Civic Engagement, and Inter-Asia Cultural Studies. Her most recent articles have appeared in Asian Theatre Journal, TDR/The Drama Review, Theatre Journal, and The Drama Review.
