Jerry Ruiz has enjoyed an extensive career as a director, producer and arts administrator. Recent directorial projects include world premieres of Tanya Saracho’s plays Fade (Denver Center Theatre Company) and Mala Hierba (Second Stage Theatre).
NYC credits include Basilica (Rattlestick Playwrights Theater); Philip Goes Forth, Love Goes to Press (Mint Theater Company); Enfrascada (Clubbed Thumb); A King of the Infinite Space (Summerstage); Mariela in the Desert; The King is Dead.
Regional work includes Twelfth Night (Chalk Repertory Theatre); In the Heights (UT-Austin); 26 Miles, Waiting for the Hearse (Mixed Blood Theatre).
2015-2016, Jerry served as Executive Director of the Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center, San Antonio, TX. 2011-2015, he was Curator of Two River Theater’s showcase for new Latino plays, the Crossing Borders Festival. He received the TCG/NEA Career Development for Directors grant, 2009-2011. Member SDC. MFA in Theater/Directing, University of California, San Diego; BA, Harvard University.
