General Auditions
PlayMakers Repertory Company will conduct open auditions for Triangle-based Equity and non-Equity performers for our upcoming 2025/26 Season. All performers interested will be seen as follows:
In-person on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 and Wednesday, May 28, 2025 from 1–8pm.

All actors please prepare two contrasting selections, one classical and one contemporary, that give us an idea of you and the scope of your work.
Total material not to exceed 4 mins.

PlayMakers seeks to hire actors who reflect our world to tell the stories we put onstage. Auditions are open to individuals from all backgrounds.

PlayMakers houses a resident company and many roles are cast in-house. We are currently seeking roles for the following productions:
JAY “THE SPORT” JACKSON – (Male-identifying character, late 30s/early 40s, Black)
An ambitious, charismatic, and outspoken African-American boxer who wants to become Heavyweight Champion of the World.
WYNTON – (Male-identifying character, 50s, Black)
Jay’s trainer and mentor, who has a deep understanding of the racial and social implications of Jay’s rise in the sport.
FISH – (Male-identifying character, 18-early 20s, Black)
A young, talented boxer who spars with Jay and later joins his team. Looks up to Jay.
SOCCER MOM – (Female-identifying character, 40s, any/all ethnicities)
Shows up at practice at the end of the play, bringing with her a bag of orange slices and grief.
(This production will take a multicultural lens on the Sycamore family and its entourage)
PAUL – (Male-identifying character, early 50s, any/all ethnicities)
A good-natured, carefree, and supportive father, he spends most of his time tinkering in the basement making fireworks.
MARTIN – (Male-identifying character, 70s, any/all ethnicities)
The patriarch of the Sycamore family; Witty, eccentric, and beloved, he collects snakes and stopped paying his income tax, because… you can’t take it with you.
DONALD – (Male-identifying character, 30s, any/all ethnicities)
The easygoing, loyal, cheerful boyfriend to Rheba who is fully embraced as part of the Sycamore household.
KIRBY – (Male-identifying character, 50s/60s, any/all ethnicities)
A wealthy and successful businessman who has high expectations for his son, Tony. Possesses a rigid worldview that values societal convention and status.
BERT – (Male-identifying character, late 30s, Black)
Caretaker, companion, and best friend to Kenneth, offers him limitless support and advice.
CLAY, and others – (Male-identifying character, 50-60s, white)
Hires Kenneth at Primary Trust after he loses his job.
MACDUFF – (Male-identifying character, 40s, any/all ethnicities)
A courageous and seasoned warrior who is deeply committed to King Duncan. He has a strong sense of duty, justice, and morality.
CLAIREE – (Female-identifying character, 50s/60s, white)
Known for her smart mouth and sweet tooth, she is the sophisticated and classy owner of the local radio station. Widow to the Mayor.
