As a professional theatre company residing at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, it’s a great day to be a Tar Heel when a Carolina alum comes back to work with us. And this spring, we have a few to celebrate!
Currently in rehearsal as the Vocal Coach of Agatha Christie’s Murder on the Orient Express by Ken Ludwig is UNC Alum Katie Cunningham. Katie is currently an Assistant Professor and Head of Acting in the Department of Theatre at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and a resident acting company member. Her writing and peer-reviewed research have appeared in The Voice and Speech Review, The Conversation, and The International Dialects of English Archive. Katie maintains a freelance voice, presence, and dialect coaching business, supporting clients in film and television, theatre, academia, and corporate settings.

The last show of our fabulous and fun season is the World Premiere of The Game by UNC Alum Bekah Brunstetter. As a TV writer and producer, she has written for Switched at Birth, American Gods, This is Us, and Maid (Netflix, 2021.) She is currently developing a TV adaptation of the musical Oklahoma! with John Lee Hancock and Skydance Television. As a playwright, her play The Cake premiered here at PlayMakers in 2016 and has been produced over 80 times worldwide, including an off-Broadway run at Manhattan Theater Club. She’s also written the book for the musical adaptation of The Notebook with Ingrid Michaelson, just starting its Broadway run!
Cast as the lead in The Game is Megan Ketch. As an actor, Megan has been in several TV Shows and films including CBS’ American Gothic, The Good Wife, and The CW’s Jane the Virgin. Megan and Bekah met in the Department of Dramatic Art at UNC-Chapel Hill as freshmen and have been pursuing careers in the arts since.
