Alex Thompson is a composer, sound designer and award-winning music director. He has been a part of the music department for every PlayMakers musical since 2014 as either Music Director, Associate Music Director, pianist, keyboard programmer, orchestra member, or any combination thereof. He studied Media Production and Music at UNC Chapel Hill. Alex has done a variety of regional work, most notably in his position as both Artistic Associate and Music Supervisor for Hope Repertory Theatre in Michigan. He worked Off-Broadway in 2019, programming and performing keyboard/synth for “All Hallows Eve”. 

Outside of the theatre world Alex works as a music producer, engineer and arranger based in North Carolina, working in all genres of music.
